Theodore Roosevelt National Park

We planned to boondock while visiting TRNP and are really glad we did. The spot was beautiful and we luckily made it fine with the engine repair we had done earlier in the day. We were so ready to get settled after such a stressful day getting the RV towed and a tough diagnosis for it.

Medora, ND

The first night we crashed, but the next evening after work we went to town to check out Medora and grab a beer. We realized it is a super tiny town without a lot going on! Nonetheless, we enjoyed seeing it and headed back to the RV to make dinner.

Exploring Theodore Roosevelt National Park

Saturday morning we went back to town for lunch and then a drive into the park. We saw some wildlife and stopped by the visitor center before heading out on a hike. We walked 10 miles through the grassland and petrified forest. The hike was pretty uneventful until we came upon a herd of bison right on our trail! We altered course and luckily they didn’t bother us. This ended up happening a few times!

We enjoyed the hike and all of the wildlife – including a prairie dog town! The views were beautiful – even though it was hazy from the wildfires. Back at the RV, we relaxed and enjoyed the nice weather and watched football.

Will the RV Start?

The next morning we nervously cranked the engine and it worked! Yay – maybe the Blue Devil solved our issue! Theodore Roosevelt National Park wasn’t on the list to start with. However, we would both like to see all of the states and all of the National Parks so by visiting we could knock off a new state and park each. We are so glad we stopped too! It is such a different area and we are glad to have seen it.
