Austin’s dad turns 70 in a few days and we have flights booked out of Austin to fly back to celebrate. We originally thought we would store the Bounder. However, after calling around to a few places we changed our mind. McKinney Falls State Park is super close to the airport and ended up costing less than putting the Bounder in storage. It was a no-brainer!
McKinney Falls State Park is a really pretty park near the airport. There is an authentic Mexican market nearby and we were excited to check it out. We were leaving the next day so we didn’t get much, but we did try some salsa. Man – it was the hottest salsa I have ever had! It was a thicker consistency which makes us wonder if it even actually was salsa. In fact, it could have been some super potent additive for your cooking or something. Who knows – we need to improve our Spanish!
Bluebonnets at McKinney
Much like we saw at Buescher, the bluebonnets were spectacular all through the park. We enjoyed the flowers and we drove over to the falls to check that out. What a pretty park!!
Heading Back East
The next day we left for the airport. We flew to Atlanta and stayed with my college roommate and her boyfriend before heading to Austin’s parents’ house. We had a great weekend with family celebrating his dad’s birthday. Austin is the oldest of four boys and they all went fishing with their dad as part of the celebration. Everyone had a great time! The party that evening was also a blast and we enjoyed spending time with our nephews. After an amazing family weekend, we headed back to the Atlanta airport.
On the way back to the airport we stopped off and I met my boss for the first time. It’s such a crazy world that you can interview with and work for someone without ever meeting them in person. Luckily it all went well and I still have a job!
We returned our rental car and flew back to Austin for our last night at McKinney Falls. It’s a great park and we would definitely stay there again if we are ever in the area. Now, we are off to downtown Austin to continue exploring!
