Before we even started looking at RV’s, I was surfing around on Campendium to get an idea of what RV parks were like, and I kept coming back to one in Asheville that had amazing mountain top views, Campfire Lodgings. It stays booked solid in the fall, so we were pretty excited when Leigh found an opening for the first week in October – we booked it right away. The campground is located on top of a mountain, and the views ended up being even better than the pictures online.
With the great views and cell service/wifi, we decided to stay at Campfire Lodgings as much as possible. Especially since we had already spent a lot of time exploring downtown Asheville. We had solid work days followed by happy hour to watch the sunset. The premium sites have amazing views right from the site, but our deluxe site (Site #19) did not. We did have our own private deck though! The lack of a view didn’t matter because the views are actually best from the community area in the middle of the park, like 40 yards away from our site. It was cool too because almost everyone camping there walked over to the community area to hang out at sunset, so we ended up meeting several people.
In addition to amazing views, Campfire Lodgings also has resident bears and turkeys, which came through the campground daily.
There are trails at the park that are ok, but kind of anticlimactic because you’re walking away from the great views at the top. We went for a hike one day, and I went for a run one day, but most of the time we just relaxed at the campground. Overall, we had a great stay here, and we’d definitely come back.
