Butte and an Alpaca Farm

After we left Glacier we headed toward Butte, MT. On the way we stopped for lunch at Bigfork which seemed fitting! After lunch we continued on to Butte. We were not planning to stay in a campground, but unfortunately a big storm was moving in so we had to stay at the KOA. Definitely not our favorite way to camp, but the weather wasn’t on our side this week!

Date Night in Butte

We went out for a date night one evening during the week and we decided to walk there. Well, that was a mistake! It was the sketchiest walk ever. There were interesting gatherings of individuals lining the street and staring at us as we went by. We were both a little uncomfortable and on edge then, as we were walking by a fence this HUGE dog leapt at us ferociously. That about did me in!

Despite the scary walk, date night was super fun! We started at a super friendly brewery (Quarry) before heading to a nice restaurant down the way – Uptown Cafe. Butte is home to the oldest continuously operated Chinese restaurant, but they weren’t open this day. We had a fun evening and took a different route back to the campground!

Alpaca Farm

The next day we headed further east to an Alpaca Farm that is a member of Harvest Hosts. Alpacas are interesting creatures! They are typically raised for their fleece and there are two different breeds. Alpacas are South American and they usually live to be 15-20 years old.

We had a lot of fun feeding the alpacas and learning about them. They had an excellent gift shop with alpaca meat and alpaca products. We even picked up a few Christmas gifts while we were here! It was also a good time of the year to be here because there were babies born during our stay!
