Leigh has a long list of things that she’s always wanted to do, and we are trying to cross off some of them on this trip. One of the things is to see a show at the Orange Peel in Asheville. I had never really heard of Chromeo, but he was scheduled to play there while we were in Asheville, so we booked a night at Asheville’s Bear Creek RV Park to be close to downtown and bought some tickets.
The Bear Creek staff was friendly and the campground was clean. The sites were a little close together, but that didn’t bother us. We had great cell and wifi service and the laundry/bath house was nice. The pool was closed for the season, but it looked like it was a nice size. They had a vending machine and drinks were only 50 cents – I haven’t seen that anywhere in years! All in all – not tons to do in the campground, but a great location for exploring downtown Asheville.
Bear Creek is a short $12 Uber trip to downtown, and we checked out a few of the breweries before the show. Burial Brewery is still hands down my favorite, which says a lot about the beer because I think the general theme is pretty weird, i.e. they have beers called The Tearing of Flesh from Bone and The Mortal Dimensions of the Spiritual. When we were trying to decide on a beer, I was trying to figure out why I liked the place so much two years ago, but when I tasted the beer, I remembered – amazing!
The show at the Orange Peel ended up being a lot of fun, and I was glad we could cross this off the list for Leigh.
